Happy New Year

Jer, Karin and I made this last New Year in Lafayette, Indiana. We drove from Nebraska to Indiana and got a real awesome hotel for real cheap. We drank a bunch of booze. Then this happened. Happy New year.

Nostalgia

I used to be in a band called, Red Fox Grey Fox. We always made really dumb videos to promote our cd release shows. Obviously it worked like gangbusters.

Creatures Of Habit

So, for the last month or so I've been recording a new EP. I'm recording it all myself, which lots of folks do...lots of folks who are well learned in the arts of recording...but I have no god damn idea what I'm doing. Most folks could probably tell that by looking at this picture of how I've mic'ed the drums. Welp, I think it's soundin' alright.

Anywho, I've spent a good deal of most days alternating between recording jams and watching Boy Meets World.

Milo has a similar routine, but instead of tunes and awesome 90's t.v. shows, it's eating and sleeping.

More Strings!

Josie keeps a very discerning eye (and ear) on the rehearsals.
Eric, Bethany, and Emily kickin' ass and takin' names. They will be playing with me at the Varsity Theater for my Tour Kick Off show. whew. I'm psyched out of my brain mind. They are so awesome. Notice Milo hanging out on Emily's lap.

Dutch Blitz

So. Dutch Blitz. This is the best game I have ever played. It's the best. My roommates and I play it all the time. Well, it's spread like a disease and now all my family plays as well. My wrist is literally aching from playing so much.

Some Dudes Gave Some Stuff To A Baby That Was Born Around Some Animals Then A Long Time Later We Celebrate His Birthday...Sorta

Nick and Bailey did some pre-christmas relaxing and shnuggling.
Our family supper.  Erin and Izzy weren't there yet, but my buddy Seth was there.  He brought a nice Holiday sweater.
We all marvel at Izzy's art desk.
On Christmas day we went to my grandparents' apartment and had a big family shindig full of games, songs, food and of course, a skit from the Miller family Matriarch.
Chow time!

Fun With Two "N's"

There used to be this sign for Eau Claire on 94 East that said something like, "We're always up to something FUNN." Anywho...putting a microphone through the Eau Claire Thunder is something FUNN.

Too Much Fancy

Black Labels in a wine glass is as classy as it gets.
Lots of Black Labels in a wine glass is even classier.
Holiday treat/paper plate boobs are as classy as it gets.

Sock/Stick/Mallet

Recording drums can be really tricky. I only have a few microphones and so usually the drums just end up sounding like cardboard boxeds.
But, a kick drum can sound awesome when you have a sock/stick/mallet.

Home Alone

God, there are so many awesome, epic 90's screams in this movie. The best one is where Kevin almost gets run over by the burglar's van...oh man...I think I rewound and watched that like 5 times.

Winter Walk (Wisconsin)

My friend Julia came home from Portugal and I brought her to her homestead in Lakewood, WI. Lots of winter walking happened. T'was tubular.

Winter Walk

Minneapolis got tons of snow. I spent about 4 and 1/2 hours shoveling/snow blowing today. Eeeesh.

Gettin' Shit Did.

I'm recording some new songs! Yahoo! More news on that soon.

I came home from Wisconsin and my roommates had purchased a Santa doggy costume for Milo. Look at him. He looks so humiliated.

Dwarfcraft Devices.

I get pretty lucky sometimes. My buddy Ben makes guitar pedals and he hooked me up with a killer distortion pedal called, "Eau Claire Thunder". It kicks ass. Check out his other pedals! More about this later.

Hello Wisconsin!

I played 3 shows in Wisconsin this weekend. I finished em' up in EC Town at the college. I had a killer time hangin' out with buds and playin' jams.

5 weeks.

We Are The Willows did a month long residency at a lovely joint called, the 331 club in Minneapolis. T'was awesome. I had such a reat time each Tuesday. I got to play with some old band mates, played Karin's "last" show (better not be her last ever or I'll punch her in the tummy), had a string section, and got to share the stage with some of my favorite local bands!

I had a killer time. I wish it wasn't over. These are pictures that Jason, the sound duder, took every night.
