Gran Tourino

Well, We're on tour right now. It's great. I love that being on the road again feels like returning to a state of normality. Yep.

I'd like to put pictures up real soon...from this tour and the last one...but I don't have a camera and all of my pictures come from some one else's camera...anywho...here's a computer picture of the cafe we're at in Pella, IA.

Ronny's: The Golden Prince Of Poop-hole Bars

We played at a joint in Chicago called, RONNY'S. It's a total dive. The outside of the building has the remnants of an elaborate neon sign beach scene, with dolphins, palm trees and a cascading sunset. But, the whole scene has been completely busted up by hoodlums so only a few parts of the neon sign still hang on the cinder block building.

In fact the only indication that this stack of blocks is in fact RONNY'S is the small window that is spray painted, "Ronny's". And even that is fading.

We met up with our friend Sam in the band AESTHETIC ANAESTHETIC and hung around for a bit. They were telling us about how terrible RONNY'S is but how it's getting cleaned up. We were happy to hear that although RONNY'S is a total germ hole, it's still a really fun place to play.

Well, we loaded in and played and despite the dirtiness, it was really awesome. We had a great time playing.

I think one thing that epitomized RONNY'S was when, at the end of the night, we were going to load out through a side door that was locked, the manager came and said, "Sorry guys, Ronny's wasted again and has lost the key to the side door. You're going to have to load out the front."

oh Ronny. How we'll miss you.

Tour de farts

Hello there. Tour is going pretty well so far.

Winona was fun as always. We really love Ed's bar. Great people, great atmosphere, and best of all, great quasi-skin-heads beating up quasi-hippy dudes. Seriously, someone got beat up.

Northfield was really fun. We arrived pretty early so we did some hangin' around.

Zach and I did some sweet fake skateboarding.

We played at a venue called, THE CONTENTED COW. Upon arriving we discovered that we would be receiving free booze and food. which made us all very happy.

We were really happy to be playing with the folks we played with. Michael Morris played after us and his music is so tender and soothing you could listen to it forever. And My cousin Alison played last. Her music is so beautiful. It's the sort of music that makes your heart have to reassess what beauty actually is because it's never heard anything like Alison before. Simply amazing.

So far, it's a good start to the tour.

"That's my cigar!"

"You'll shteal anyother."

"hey bummas we got wooyk to do"

ah. newsies. the best.

well, I've got some bodatious news. First; and most exciting of all the news right now, WE ARE THE WILLOWS WILL BE PERFORMING AN "IN STUDIO" ON 89.3 THE CURRENT!!!! WOOOHOOOO! The songs will air on Sunday, November, 15th.

Also, a song from the album will be featured as a song of the day on Friday, November, 13th.

In more medium interesting news, I have, (with more help than I'd like to admit from Jeremiah and Zach) figured out the deceptacon of a midi controller I purchased. I found that, like most cybertronic organisms, you just need to make sure your midi interface is connected correctly. So, I am now able to play phat beatz and ill rhymes.

That's about it for now. More soooooon!

GO BUCKY!!!!!

Soooooooo....We Are The Willows has officially become a full band. wooohooooo! There are a number of people who will be playing with me as we are the willows, but for the most part it will be my good friends jeremiah satterthwaite (red fox grey fox), Karin Hasse (Jake Dilly and The Color Pharmacy, Ettie Voya) and Zach Hanson (Laarks, The Gentle Guest).

Here we are playing at the Forward Music Festival in Madison, Wi. This weekend was the most fun I've had in a long time.

Madidaughter

I have a friend who, in college, was just discovering feminism and that discovery elicited a lot of interesting responses. Like changing her last name from "Robinson" to "Robindaughter". Though I think the way we speak is really important, especially in light of gender equality, this is a really really funny thing to me. hehe.

So, I'll be playing in Madison in a couple of weeks with the other bands on AMBLE DOWN records.

I'm pretty excited as I have never played anything like a festival before and as far as I understand, this is kinda like the mid west equivalent to the South by South West festival. I think Andrew Bird is playing. That's pretty neat.

tootles for now,

Peter

She Actually Thinks I'm Funny...

Oh man....I was driving to Hayward, WI when that picture up there was taken. First Birthday cupcake destruction...good job izzy.

A SHOW

This show is going to be held at a historical theater called, THE MABEL TAINTER. It's quite gorgeous.

I used to live in the area and my family's church met in the basement of this building. As a Munchkin we would roam through the whole building exploring. And the pastor spit a lot when we preached.

IT IS FINISHED

Both the ep (A Family. A Tree. Ep) and the full length (A Collection Of Sounds And Something Like The Plague) are finished. I can prove it. Look at this picture. Yep. Proof.

Whew, two years of recording in a stinky basement and a not-stinky studio finally pays off. More news and the actual pudding to put the proof in real soon...

Friday, August 7, 2009

Oh Fer Cute.

Seriously. Enough said. God I love this kid.

"Hey! Don't Pee On the Floor!"

yep. that is actually something i wouldn't be too surprised to hear coming out of my mouth everyday at work. For the last two years I have been teaching preschool and now, I only have about...8 more days of it until I am finished.

It's kinda weird. I have been driven to the uttermost limits of insanity in my classroom, yet, I am still going to miss these munchkins...big-time. welp. look at em'. wouldn't you miss them?

ugh. well, zach is going to master the album this week. Yes. It will be done. More news on that soon.
