Field Trip

Ben, Dan and I had a bro down triple threat at the Walker on Saturday.

It's fun going to modern art museums when none of you and your party
have much of an idea of art history, contemporary and modern art, or, anything
that would inform you on some of the whacky stuff thats goin' on in the
art world.  I feel like if we were privy to the "art conversation"
we'd make fewer jokes about how,"I could totally make that",or
"that looks like a weener".

Hmmm.  Good times.

Alvin

My Grandpa Miller is one of my heroes.  He has been for quite a long time.  He
is one of the kindest, gentlest most thoughtful people I know.  He's
almost 91 and, among other things, has dementia.  I spent the night at his place on Saturday.  Its hard
to see him in a way where he's not himself.  But when the clouds part there are really
wonderful moments.  I love this guy.

Chill Zone.

Milo has a pretty sweet Chill Zone.

I think Kellen's skin has seen better days.

The bro dojo was in dire need of a deep cleaning.  It is done.

All The Years.

Do you have any friends that have been one of the best friend for 10 years?
It feels pretty awesome.

Feels Like Some Time Ago.

I've spent the last couple hours going through old pictures on my
external hard drive.  There's not much else to do when you're sick.

These Days.

Greetings ya'll!  Its been quite some time since I've posted on the blog.  Life has been busy.  I'm working on the new record a ton and spending a good deal of time with family.

We've been playing a lot of full band shows which feels like the way its supposed to be.  Its funny that 3 years after the release of the first full length I finally feel a bit like I've got the sound figured out.  It helps that I've got some killer folks to work with.

Trailer.

This weekend was my first time driving with a trailer. It was awesome. I finally feel like I deserve to wear work boots. And I think I should enter some contests where you go backwards with a trailer.

Pals.

Stephen is a real hero. He saved the weekend. If you know this guy, you know that your life is better because of it.

Beautiful Women.

Beautiful women are the best.

Men At Work.

This is what band practice feels like.

Jrumz.

Jer recorded me playin' drums on a couple of my cousin's jams. We're still working on her EP and I think it is going to be a real winner.

Bone And Bell

Bone and Bell are from Chicago and they have some pretty killer jams. Here is a free Valentines song they have.

"Dude, He Stole That Melody From Me."

Milo is demanding Co-Writer credit on the new tunes.

Letters.

I've been reading my Grandparent's letters for a couple years. I've started reading them much more consistently and intently as of late. The new jams I'm trying to write are based on these.
I'm almost finished with them and the new tunes are feelin' pretty good so far...its kinda like I've been wearing the same underwear for way too long and now I've put on some new ones.

The Week Ends.

Milo was in rare form on the ride up to Hayward. Generally he's a lunatic in the van. Somehow he transformed into the world's biggest snuggle muffin. If that's a thing.
I worked on my sister's upstairs bedroom. Oh boy, it was a mess.
I got a little bit done though.
My sister is one of the strongest people I know. She's an incredible mother, big sister, and friend.
We did a lot of relaxing. There's nothin' better than reading sci fi while Izzy watches Tom and Jerry. Poor Tom, he's always gettin' a raw deal.

Plans.

My plans of reading, walking to the bank, reading some more, then recording have been seriously side tracked. Thanks Liz Lemon.

Hayward Bound

I'm going to Hayward this weekend. Can't wait.

Uffda.

Drums. They sound more like cardboard.

Dreamy Skating

I haven't skated it yet, but Powderhorn pond looks like a dream.

The Homestead

January is treating the Homestead quite well these days.

Vocals.

I usually spend more time trying to figure out whether or not to redo vocal takes than doing vocal takes. I am seriously bad at this.

Super-Super Duper

I bought some new tunes recently and I am happy to say that I'm incredibly happy with my purchases. Just so you know. This here album is the Wisconsin Built album.
Here's Bro. Stephen's album Baptist Girls. I love this album cover. It feels like Bible camp.

My Producer.

Milo is producing the next batch of recordings.
Milo- "Ugh...redo it! I can't take this anymore. That sounded like a tabby cat on guitar!"

Dan Mariska

Dang, Dan's jams rule. Big Time!

Supper At Grandma and Grandpa's

Its humanly impossible to leave my Grandparents' place without them feeding you a meal. Seriously.

It Begins.

I've been having some trouble recording these days. I'm feelin' locked up. Anywho, I'm taking a few detours before really buckling down and getting the next record started. We'll see where they lead.
